Fourni Korseon
is a group of islands southwest of Samos and southeast of Ikaria. The complex consists of 17 islands and islets, of which only the two big ones, Fourni and Thymena, are inhabited. It covers an area of 45.2 sq. km. The whole complex has been included in the Natura 2000 network of nature protection areas.
Fourni Island is the ideal place to have relaxing, carefree and safe holidays. The main reason for choosing to visit Fourni is the sea, the landscapes and the pure nature.
The indented coastline of the island is impressively long at more than 120 km, forming a great number of small beaches, most of them deserted, some of them pebbly and others sandy, with crystal clear waters in all shades of blue.

At the end of July, the island’s Fishing Association called Glaros (which is Greek for seagull) in cooperation with the Municipality of Fourni Korseon organise the “FISH FEST”, where there’s live music, plenty of wine and fresh local fish.
The greatest festival of the year takes place on August 15 at the island’s port, where the dance group of the local Cultural Association is dancing traditional dances and live music is playing until dawn.
The last festival of the summer is on August 28, at the village of Agios Giannis (Saint John) and it is dedicated to the memory of Saint John of the Ague or Saint John the Beheaded.
Transportation to and from Fourni
Fourni Island is connected by boat on an almost daily basis with the islands of Ikaria and Samos. Both these islands have airports with daily flights to Athens. Also, three times per week a boat connects Fourni with the main port of Greece, Piraeus, which is close to Athens.
The main occupations of Fourni Island’s residents are fishing, shipping and the tourism industry.
The road network (newly-built in its greatest part) covers the whole island, connecting villages, settlements and beaches. Most settlements are located on the biggest island of Fourni, except from Thymena and Keramidou, which are situated on the island of Thymena.
On the island of Fourni, swimming, snorkelling, walking on the beach, fishing, visiting the small chapels, eating fresh fish at the seaside tavernas, tasting local honey, watching the sunset from the mountain and resting are a MUST.
